Eminem was a short-order cook at a restaurant called Gilbert’s Lodge in St. Claire Shores, Michigan. Whenever he had some lyrics he needed to write down, he’d write them on some receipts. When his friends came to eat, he would also rap things off the menu to them.

The one who were are so blessed to know. Who I, personally am so glad to have gotten to live in his generation. We all know his life story, we all know what he came up from. Take him as an inspiration, model him as a hero. Because he isn’t the only one who has had a life like this. We all have problems, but he shows us that we can make it through. And it all started from these baby steps…

Eminem’s Victorious Lawsuit Against UMG Means Older Artists Will Earn 50% of Profits on Cataloged Songs.
Digital sales are a significant part of an artist’s survival in 2011, and they can make all the difference for older performers with popular back catalogs of music. According to The New York Times, Eminem has won a lawsuit against Universal Music Group.
The Supreme Court denied to hear an appeal from UMG, leaving the current verdict by a lower court stand. The decision makes selling music on digital platforms a “license,” in which an older artist makes about 50% of the profit, as opposed to a “sale.” Newer artists will not be affected by the decision, because record labels have gradually restructured contracts for the digital age.
